VirginiA HUGHES
ARTIST STATEMENT
I seek to spark the imagination of the viewer through the use of color, texture, and three-dimensional effects. I usually work in transparent glass so that the textures and shapes catch the light and hopefully liberate the colors into colorful shadows. I like to layer colors and patterns to give depth and additional color to the pieces. Overall, I hope to evoke the viewer's memories of seasons, times of day, and sensations.
I have been a Studio Artist at the Art Glass Center at Glen Echo since 2010.
