Pa... The Keatings hosted the Annual Meeting several years ago. Those of you who were there will remember what a great place it is. Part of it will be in the house, a wonderful space with great glass! Part of it (weather permitting) will be in their amazing rock garden. Viki's studio will also be on view, and she'll have samples set up from her latest commission.

Just a brief summary of our Annual meeting/big blow out bash/auction fundraiser:

- It starts at noon with a pot lunch lunch with an opportunity to meet and socialize with both new members and old timers.

- A brief meeting covering the election results (you can vote by email or until 1 pm at the meeting), the auditors' report, and an overview of upcoming guild events and activities for the upcoming year.

- The auction/fundraiser: this is usually the highlight of the meeting. NCAGG is a not-for-profit organization . . . you can donate glass-related items (glass, tools, books, etc.) for the auction (a good way of clearing out the stuff you thought you'd use and never did!) and then bids on others items of interest. The prices are typically good (sometimes really good!), and you'll have new things to "play" with! It's a win-win-win: the donor gets a write off, the buyer gets a good deal, and NCAGG supplements its funds. Don't forget to bring your checkbook!

Please bring a dish to share!

The Magless is an exchange of small hand-made glass tiles in the artist’s style or the results of experiments with new styles. Tiles can be sized anywhere from roughly 1"x1" to 2"x2" – square, rectangular, animal shaped, or any other shape that you like. Think refrigerator magnet. You make and swap them without a magnet glued to the back. This is a great opportunity to get small samples of different glass techniques of over 20 glass arts.

Discover the joy of glass at the 2017 Glass Arts Festival held at Glen Echo Park on Sunday, April 30, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. (rain or shine). Experienced glass artists from the National Capital Art Glass Guild will demonstrate glass techniques ranging from stained glass to fused glass to blown glass. Visitors will see how artists create jewelry, stained glass panels, blown vessels, recycled glass art, and fused glass sculpture. Highlights include a special glass blowing demonstration at Glassworks studio and a murrini pull that produces long rods of patterned glass at the Art Glass Center at Glen Echo. Kids can create colorful faux glass pieces in a special children’s activity, while parents can peruse an array of glass gifts in our mini pop-up store in the Bumper Car Pavilion. All artist demonstrations are free and do not require registration or tickets. Free parking is also available.

The Art Glass Center and Glassworks are two of the fourteen resident artists and arts organizations at Glen Echo Park, a vibrant arts and cultural center managed by the Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture. The Park offers classes and camps in visual and performing arts, art exhibitions, children's theater performances, summer concerts, environmental programs, special events and festivals, and a lively social dance program. The National Capital Art Glass Guild is a group of about 200 glass artists from Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC, as well as several other states and countries who come together to share ideas, learn from each other, and have fun.

Glen Echo Park is located at 7300 MacArthur Blvd. in Glen Echo, Maryland, six miles northwest of Georgetown along the scenic Potomac River palisades.

The exhibition will be held at Artists & Makers studio 2, located at 12276/12280 Wilkins Avenue in Rockville, MD. Located in the heart of Rockville’s White Flint business district, Artists & Makers Studios is home to over 70 residents juried by artist, curator and visionary Judith Heartsong. Gallery 217, in the Wilkins Avenue building, will be a perfect venue for showcasing our work.

The Edge of Light! theme suggests anything that is “edgy” (literally or figuratively), “off-the-cuff,” or unusual. This juried exhibition is the major component of the show, but we’ll also have an artist demonstration and/or talk for visitors to the gallery.
